Jake is an Internet entrepreneur. Before founding Brighter, Jake served as CEO and Founder of Business.com. Business.com was one of the successful companies launched by eCompanies, the privately held incubator founded by Winebaum and Sky Dayton. eCompanies launched several other successful companies, including JAMDAT Mobile, Boingo Wireless, and USBX. Prior to eCompanies, Jake served as Chairman of the Disney Internet Group overseeing Disney.com, ESPN.com, ABCNews.com, ABC.com and Family.com. Prior to Disney, Jake founded FamilyFun Magazine which was acquired by The Walt Disney Company. Jake started his career in publishing and held executive positions at U.S. News & World Report, Time and Fortune Magazines. Jake was awarded a place in Time Magazine's 50 Cyber Elite and Wired Magazine’s Wired 25, and was inducted into the Los Angeles Venture Association Hall of Fame in 2010. He currently serves on the board of Gigya, Vision to Learn, and Child Obesity 180. Winebaum is a Dartmouth College graduate.
Cynthia has over a decade of experience leading successful internet companies. She is a member of the Board of Directors of eCompanies LLC, an internet incubator, and prior to her work with Brighter, served as eCompanies’ Chief Operating Officer, as well as Managing Partner of eCompanies Venture Group, an internet venture capital fund. Businesses founded by eCompanies include Business.com, JAMDAT Mobile, Boingo Wireless and USBX. eCompanies Venture Group was an early investor in LowerMyBills, Inc., as well as other digital media companies. Cynthia has also been a partner in a private equity firm specializing in retail and consumer manufacturing companies, and SVP and General Counsel to a publicly traded national retail company. She holds honors degrees from Yale College and Harvard Law School, and lives in Santa Monica with her husband and sons.
Jason oversees the development of Brighter and the services it offers dentists and patients. Prior to Brighter, he was President of PatientFYI.com, which was the first online resource that matched patients with doctors by specific services & strengths. Jason has been in the healthcare industry for over 12 years including leadership positions as Vice-President of GE Consumer Finance, Business Director at PacifiCare, and Associate General Counsel for UnitedHealthcare. Jason is a member of the State Bar of California with a Juris Doctor from Southwestern and BA's in Business and Political Science from Southern Methodist University.
Tom manages Product, marketing & site analytics at Brighter. Previously, Tom was the Director of Search Marketing at Dex One/Business.com where he oversaw the management of all paid traffic programs with a combined annual budget over $70M. He also led the development of all in-house SEM management systems, including bid optimization and account management systems which manage over 250M keywords and 25K accounts in Google AdWords & Yahoo Search Marketing. Prior to Business.com, Tom worked at Cap Gemini Ernst & Young and later as an independent contractor where he conducted audits of local exchange carrier provisioning and repair metrics. Tom holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations with a minor in Economics from the University of Pennsylvania.
Allison oversees sales, provider relations, and customer service at Brighter. Previously, Allison was VP of Marketing and Products at CarePayment, a patient finance company, where she was responsible for product marketing, public relations and product management. Prior to CarePayment, Allison served in various sales and business development roles at The Advisory Board Company, a healthcare research and technology firm. While at the Advisory Board, Allison partnered with health system executives to develop leadership development programs, grew the company’s footprint in the UK, and launched the Crimson Market Advantage physician analytics platform. Allison holds a Bachelor's in Finance from Emory University and an MBA from Stanford University’s Graduate School of Business.
Scott Oshima comes to Brighter after serving as Director of Search Product at Dex One/Business.com where he architected and developed the search technology for Dexknows.com, Business.com and Work.com properties. He brings over a decade of experience in software and web development. Prior to Business.com, Scott was a technical lead at Styleclick.com, an early auction/ecommerce retail site, which eventually got sold to USA Networks. He earned a BS in Engineering at the University of California Irvine and University of Tokyo. He is an avid surfer and shapes boards as a hobby.
Sara manages marketing, member communications, and public relations at Brighter. Previously, Sara has held various marketing and strategy roles within the consumer products realm at Intuit and Bain & Company, specializing in new product launches as well as customer segmentation. Building on prior product launch experience, Sara lead the customer retention efforts for Provide Commerce's 2010 acquisition and re-launch of the Personal Creations brand. Sara's background also includes work at ACNielsen BASES in marketing research and product launch optimization for consumer brands across the US, Europe, and South America. Sara holds a BS in Mathematics and Economics from Centre College and an MBA from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
